Dylan Walker's 39-metre penalty gave Manly Sea Eagles a golden-point victory over Canberra Raiders, while Anthony Milford's late drop-goal saw Brisbane Broncos edge out South Sydney Rabbitohs on a day of high drama in the NRL.
Walker missed a conversion that would have given Manly the lead with less than three minutes remaining, but he made up for his miscue with a lengthy penalty that hit the inside of the right-hand upright to clinch a 20-18 win in the additional period.
It was a fitting end to a dramatic game that saw momentum swing back and forth, Jarrod Croker converting his own try before Josh Papalii flattened Daly Cherry-Evans to give Canberra a 10-point lead after Walker's early penalty.
Jack Wighton saved two tries towards the end of the first half but there was nothing he could do as Jake Trbojevic and Walker put Manly back in front before the hour-mark.
A phenomenal score from Jordan Rapana saw him pull Blake Griffin's grubber kick back over the line and touch down in the back corner, but Tom Trbojevic equalised with four minutes remaining.
After skewing his conversion attempt wide, Walker came good in golden point as the Sea Eagles bounced back from consecutive defeats in uplifting fashion.
Milford was the hero in Friday's other match, the Broncos five-eighth slotting a 78th-minute drop-goal for a 25-24 victory against the Rabbitohs.
Corey Oates twice contorted his body to somehow touch down in the corner for a first-half double that put Brisbane in control.
However, Souths surged clear through Robert Jennings, Angus Crichton and Siosifa Talakai, before Milford converted Tautau Moga's try to draw level inside the final 10 minutes.
And Milford proved the match-winner when he showed great composure to change feet, shuffle past Robbie Farah and score the decisive one-pointer.
